If you’re selective about which projects you get involved in, this is one of those once-in-a-decade opportunities you need to jump on.
You may have already noticed promotion of the Shape Your Future project.
If you’re selective about which projects you get involved in, this is one of those once-in-a-decade opportunities you need to jump on.
When you provide feedback through the #shapeyourfuture project, you will be contributing to the development of a vision for Lake Macquarie City, including a set of values on which Council’s decision-making will be based.
This means, your input will guide what Council does now and into the future.
The vision and values that Council and the community develops together will be used to create a long-term Community Strategic Plan. This is Council’s and the community’s primary strategic document. It also feeds into and guides all other long, mid and short-term plans.
If you want the chance to steer the direction of our City and guide Council’s plans for the future – head to Council’s have your say website.
While you are there, check out the futuristic scenarios we’ve created using virtual reality. The VR environments are for fun, rather than real proposals for the future, they set the scene for envisioning big ideas about what is possible for the City.
Keep an eye out for Council staff in the coming months, as they will be popping up across the City asking for your big ideas.
In September, there will also be a number of innovative workshops that you get to take part in, so play an active role in shaping your future at shapeyourfuture.net.au.
I would like to also advise residents that the Thomas Humphries car park and boat ramp, at Dobinson Drive, Swansea is now open. It was upgraded under the NSW Boating Now program, which provides infrastructure for the benefit of the community using funds from boating fees. Transport for NSW and Council jointly funded the project, which provides more than 30 tow-vehicle and boat-trailer parking spaces and 10 car spots.
