Kemp, who last year released his debut album Against the Grain, will be joined by country music stars The Wolfe Brothers, Gord Bamford, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Christie Lamb, Jody Direen and Craig Heath.
“It is going to be a great show and I am really looking forward to playing in Newcastle,” Kemp said.
Kemp will be pushing the fourth single, A Little More Country, off his 2015 album. He has also released singles How We Roll Around Here, Small Town Girl and the album’s namesake single, Against the Grain.
“The album is going really well,” Kemp said.
“I am hoping to release a video for A Little More Country before the This Crazy Life tour.”
Kemp went solo in 2014 after achieving recognition as one part of McAlister Kemp. He has since been slogging it out performing shows across the country.
However, Kemp’s roots were not in country music.
“I was right into rock and heavy music,” Kemp said.
It was while living and performing with a former girlfriend in Canada that he began to discover his country soul.
“People told me when I stopped screaming the lyrics I actually sounded a bit country,” he said.
This information came as something of a shock to Kemp, but encouraged him to explore the realm of country music. When he returned to Australia he began to focus on country music. He teamed up with Drew McAlister and the duo enjoyed great success, winning several country music accolades, for their thundering American-style country rock.
Kemp said he hopes the This Crazy Life tour will introduce new audiences to the diversity of the country music genre.
“Country music is going crazy,” he said.
“There are just so many influences rolled in to it now.”
This Crazy Life will play Wests, New Lambton, on October 22.
