Tim Crakanthorp will today launch a petition to save the historic Bogey Hole.

Member for Newcastle Tim Crakanthorp has launched a petition to save the historic Bogey Hole.

The NSW Government closed the Bogey Hole last November, saying at the time “further investigations are being prioritised”.

Mr Crakanthorp felt compelled to act after Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Mr Scott MacDonald could not guarantee it would re-open.

“I am launching a petition today so all Novocastrians can tell the Government in Sydney that we want the Bogey Hole open,” Mr Crakanthorp said on Sunday.

“The Government underestimates the importance of this iconic site to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter.”

Mr Crakanthorp said he was aiming to get more than 10,000 signatures in the next few weeks and residents should “keep an eye on their letterboxes” so they could show their support.
