This privilege is truly humbling and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities it will bring.
It is an honour to acknowledge and express appreciation and gratitude to the members of the previous council, including the city’s first female Mayor – Jodie Harrison.
I thank them for their hard work, passion and commitment in making Lake Macquarie a great place to live, work and visit and I’m delighted to be building on the successes of the previous council.
I also extend a warm welcome to the new faces of the council and I am confident that all of the elected councillors will work together for the benefit of Lake Macquarie and improve the quality of life of our residents and local businesses.
As the level of government closest to the community it is important that council reflects the needs of our residents and I look forward to leading a collaborative, unified council that will allow us to best deliver on the community’s vision over the next four years.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to join me at the Living Smart Festival on Saturday, September 24 at Speers Point Park.
