It’s also the perfect opportunity to use Council’s green waste service, where all garden waste such as grass clippings, prunings and leaves, is turned into compost. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, creating a wildlife-friendly garden is easy too, and if you need any advice, why not join Council’s Backyard Habitat for Wildlife program? The program is free and you’ll receive two free native plants when you sign up.
If you’re thinking about doing a spring clean, why not get together with your neighbours and register a Super Street Sale? Since its inception in 2012, more than 70 Super Street Sales have been held across the city. The goal of the program is to reduce waste going to landfill by recycling unwanted household items and turning one person’s trash into another person’s treasure.
When three or more houses all have a garage sale on the same day, Council will promote the garage sales in the local paper, on Council's website and on social media, and will give everyone involved a garage sale kit, all for free. Visit lakemac.com.au/super-street-sale
