Heffernan hails from Singleton and is expected to have a strong home-crowd following when the Brendan Clark Invitational is staged as part of the international Pro Bull Riding series at Newcastle Entertainment Centre on November 26.
The event has been running for several years and was attended by a sell-out crowd last year.
PBR Australia spokesperson Glen Young described it as one of the “signature events” of the Australian leg of the world tour and expected another strong crowd.
“Newcastle is not only a marquee event for the Australian tour, it is also an event on the world tour and one of only six marquee events in Australia,” he said.
Young said the event gave people of the Hunter the chance to see world-class riders and also “paid homage to Brendan Clark”, Australia’s most successful professional bull rider.
