The first day of the event, which is hosted by Balloon Aloft, was cancelled due to the downpour of rain on Saturday. Anxious balloon enthusiasts went to bed praying for sunshine and the weather gods definitely came through.
Almost twenty hot air balloonists took to the skies over the Hunter Valley on Sunday creating a stunning spectacle for onlookers.
This was the sixth time the event was staged in the region with balloon pilots coming from around the country to take part.
Organiser Matthew Scaife from Balloon Aloft said the company was excited to fly after the first day of the event was cancelled.
“It was disappointing not to fly yesterday however we have been so lucky with such a beautiful morning today”, he said.
The balloons took off from Broke reaching heights of up to 1000 feet.
More than one hundred passengers flew on board and were delivered safely back to earth for a champagne breakfast at Peterson House.
