I encourage the community to nominate someone they know who has made a significant contribution to the city before nominations close shortly.
The Lake Macquarie Australia Day Awards recognise residents and people who have contributed to our city through volunteering, mission or special event. There are so many people in our city who volunteer their time or carry out work on behalf of the community, and we want the number and calibre of nominations to reflect that in this year’s awards. To nominate, visit lakemac.com.au/ausawards.
This Friday, I ask you all to show your support for women’s safety in Lake Macquarie by attending this year’s Reclaim the Night event. Reclaim the Night is an international movement that encourages women and men to march together to raise awareness of, and put an end to, men’s sexual violence against women. The community is invited to enjoy a free barbecue, live entertainment, and to march from the Warners Bay rotunda along The Esplanade.
