This change will provide the foundations for an electronic planning (e-planning) system where you will be able to track the process of your application online.
We now accept development applications, occupation certificates, section 96 applications and everything in between.
There are a number of benefits that are derived by moving to an entirely electronic system for applications.
Firstly it means we are one step closer to having a completely online system, which will allow you to lodge and track your application. Secondly, it is much better for the environment.
The electronic system also reduces the costs associated with printing for both the applicant and for council, and means that we don't have to rely on hard copy paper files when processing applications or doing onsite inspections.
We are working towards submitting your applications online but we still have some kinks to sort out.
If you need to submit an application today, you will need to do so in person at council's offices, at 282 King Street, Newcastle or by mail to Newcastle City Council PO Box 489, Newcastle NSW 2300. Appointments can be made with council's duty officer can be made by calling 02 4974 2000.
