Pups in the Park will be open to all members of the community and their pooches in Lambton Park on Saturday 10 December.
Three qualified council rangers will insert microchips in dogs of all shapes and sizes and provide information about responsible pet ownership, including how to register your dog with council. I encourage all pet owners to attend this fun event and, of course, to get your dog microchipped if you haven't already done so
All dogs in NSW are required to have a collar and tag and be microchipped and registered. Ensuring this is done is a big part of being a responsible owner, along with keeping your dog on a leash and picking up after them. Most dogs are microchipped, but it is important also to register your dog so that they can easily be identified if they get lost.
Santa will make a guest appearance in the park to have his photo taken with canines and kiddies. There will also be a prize for the best dressed pooch on the day. Pet owners will enjoy a free sausage sizzle and giveaways.
Free microchipping will be carried out on the dogs of Newcastle residents only between 8am and noon, so proof of address will be required. The offer is not open to litters of pups and breeding dogs.
