Council’s Acting Manager Community Planning Stephen McAlister said the festival was one of the biggest days on the Lake Macquarie calendar and expected it to draw another large crowd.
“More than 20,000 people attended last year’s celebrations and, with an exciting program scheduled for this year’s event, I would expect even more people to join in the fun,” Mr McAlister said.
“From kids’ activities to a family movie and live entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The festival starts at noon with a flag raising ceremony and a screening of Oddball. There will be free kids’ activities, local entertainment and the Scouts Canoe Race.
Pseudo Echo and Lisa Hunt will take to the stage for the evening concert. Fireworks will light up the sky around 9pm.
