Popular emerging rock-edge country band Hurricane Fall and acclaimed singer/songwriter Amy Vee are among the artists playing at the fourth consecutive Country at Caves event at the surf club on February 19 from midday.
Vee toured extensively with the late Jon English and her latest single, Ten Years, shot to number six on the Triple J Unearthed roots charts last year.
Tamworth Country Music Festival Star Maker finalist Jade Holland will also be on the bill and complementing the line-up will be local folk-country trio Whistle Dixie, who have played support for Black Sorrows, The Whitlams and Alex Lloyd.
Caves Beach SLSC social secretary Lisa Slade said the event raised vital funds for the volunteer organisation.
“All profits go towards the purchase of much-needed equipment for lifesaving,” Ms Slade said.
“We are such a small surf club that we don’t tend to get a lot of sponsorship, so this event is a major fundraiser for us.
“We’ve got some great bands coming straight from the Tamworth Country Music Festival and we are hoping for a strong turnout.
“It is one of the most beautiful venues for something like this in the Hunter and it is a good event just to get the community to come together as well.”
Event promoter Mike Vee, who grew up in Newcastle but is now based in Tamworth, jumped at the chance to help run the event three years ago.
“A friend of mine got in contact with me and said Caves Beach Surf Club needed to buy all new equipment to teach kids to save lives,” Mr Vee said. “Many years ago I had a friend who died in the surf. I thought, why don’t we do a country music show.
“The venue has a lot of history. Years ago you would go there to see bands like Cold Chisel play.”
Gates open at 11am and all ages are welcome. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and will be $15 per adult and a gold coin donation for kids accompanied by adults.
The event will be held on the lawn beside the club. Full bar and food services will be available.
