However, Singleton Council says they are “currently reviewing the current caretaker lease and investigating management options.”
Lake St Clair, approximately 30 minutes north of Singleton, is a popular location for water-based activities, day tripping and camping - including 38 hectares of primitive camping space, basic toilet and shower facilities, barbecues, boat ramp and a fish cleaning table.
A caretaker lives onsite and is contactable at all times.
Acting General Manager Anthony Egan says Lake St Clair is managed by one caretaker who resides on-site and there are occasions when that person is required to undertake duties at different locations on the property or off-site.
“It is Council’s intention that the caretaker is contactable at all times as reasonably possible,” he says.
“Council appreciates some issues may arise as a result of this arrangement, and is currently reviewing the current caretaker lease and investigating management options.”
Mr Egan explains Singleton Council has adopted a Master Plan for Lake St Clair, and is seeking a long-term lease from WaterNSW for the site.
“Recent visitors will have noticed the installation of a new caretaker facilities, and Council is also in the process of installing a boom gate at the entry to the Lake St Clair grounds and carparking near the caretaker facility. Work associated with the installation of the new facilities is expected to be completed before 30 June 2017.”
“Council encourages feedback about visitors’ experiences to Lake St Clair, which informs the ongoing review of services provided at the site as well as how facilities can be improved.”
