The annual Lake Mac Festival is again expected to draw a bumper crowd of families to soak up the sun and celebrate all things Australian.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s acting community planning manager Stephen McAlister said the Lake Mac Festival was one of the biggest days on the local calendar.
“The Lake Mac Festival is always a popular day out for families,” Mr McAlister said.
“More than 20,000 people attended last year’s celebrations and with an exciting program scheduled for this year’s event, I would expect even more people to join in the fun.
“From kids’ activities to a family movie and live entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The festival will start at noon with a flag-raising ceremony and the movie Oddball on the big screen.
Throughout the day, there will be free kids’ activities, local entertainment, and the annual scouts canoe race at 4pm.
Pseudo Echo and Lisa Hunt will take to the stage for the evening concert at 6.30pm.
The Lakes Mail recently saw Pseudo Echo perform as part of the Pure Gold Live concert at the ICC Sydney Theatre, at Darling Harbour.
We can report that lead singer Brian Canham and the band were in scintillating form, performing Listening and Funky Town in the four-hour mega-show.
On Australia Day, a spectacular fireworks display will conclude the festival at about 9pm.
Speers Point Swim Centre will also host Endless Summer Days from noon to 4pm.
For $3.50 visitors can enjoy live music, aquatic floats, chill-out zones and sporting games, as well as entry into the centre’s pools and toddler play area.
