The video of Kruzah having the time of his life playing with his beloved rubber chicken has been seen eight million times.
Kruzah’s owner, Janine Begini, did not expect her young colt to become an internet sensation when she posted the video online one week ago.
“I initially shared it to put a smile on some friend’s faces.
“I still can’t believe how many people have viewed the video. It’s just unreal,” she said.
Kruzah’s video has even made news programs overseas, most recently being shared by the Today Show in the United States.
“I’m constantly getting comments on Kruzah’s Facebook page from people all over the world, saying how much he has made them smile.
“It’s amazing how much of an impact this boy has had,” she said.
Ms Begini said some of the messages she has received has made her cry.
“One older lady living in a nursing home said seeing Kruzah’s video had made her day, her week, her year. That was so special to read,” Ms Begini said.
Kruzah had a rough start in life, being born as a ‘dummy foal’. This is a condition where there is a lack of oxygen reaching the brain.
The foal wasn’t able to stand properly, and was unable to suck from his mother.
“A dummy foal struggles with basic things it should be able to do naturally,” said Dr Robyn Mather, Kruzah’s current vet.
Due to quick thinking from his owner and the work of his former vet, which included plasma transfers, Kruzah is doing well.
“You can be having the worst day, a really down day, and you go and watch him play with his toys, and he just brightens your day.
“He puts a smile on my face, and now, so many other peoples’ faces. It’s wonderful,” Ms Begini said.
