They may be considered “mature aged” but competition is expected to be fierce when Fingal Beach Surf Lifesaving Club host its annual masters carnival this weekend.

Over 200 competitors are expected to converge on Fingal Beach for the two-day carnival with strong contingents representing Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter branches.
The carnival is in its 11th year and the host club will be keen to improve on last year’s third place behind Central Coast club’s Terrigal and Toowoon Bay.
There will be 130 races contested over the weekend with racing starting at 9am.
The carnival provides local competitors a strong hit-out ahead of the Hunter branch masters championships at Fingal Beach on February 12.
Both carnivals will provide important hit-outs ahead of the NSW surf-lifesaving titles in February/March and Australian championships in April.
Fingal Beach will also host the Hunter branch age championships on February 4 and 5 and the open and surfboat titles on February 11.
