Newcastle detectives have made a quick arrest following the violent robbery of a woman waiting for a bus at Jesmond on Saturday.

Police said the 39-year-old woman was at a bus stop on Newcastle Road when a man walked up and punched her in the face.
The suspect grabbed a handbag from the injured woman before fleeing over fences.
Police located the empty handbag hidden in a nearby backyard.
Closed circuit television footage from nearby businesses identified the suspect and the victim’s card was used at Mount Hutton on Saturday to buy three packets of White Ox tobacco and some cigarette papers.
Newcastle detectives visited a Windale address on Sunday and found the suspect hiding under a bed.
The 24-year-old man, originally from Taree, was taken to Newcastle police station and charged with aggravated robbery.
He was refused bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Monday.
