LAKE Macquarie independent Greg Piper has described Mike Baird as a man “who truly believed that what he was doing was the right thing for NSW”.

Mr Piper said that while he and the outgoing Liberal leader often had different perspectives Mr Baird was accessible.
“There have been many occasions when I haven’t agreed with him, particularly in regards to privatisation and the way the government has handled things like the greyhound issue, but I have always found him to be a decent person,” Mr Piper said.
“I wish him the best.”
Mr Piper also paid tribute to Mr Baird’s successor “whoever that may be”.
“I also wish [them] all the best...because NSW deserves the best.”
