Lake Macquarie City Council have abandoned a proposal to rebuild the Pelican Boat Ramp 170 metres south of its original location and will investigate four alternative options for its replacement.

A council spokesperson said the community’s preference to retain the popular swimming area at Pelican was a deciding factor in exploring more options. The ramp was closed in August due to safety concerns.
