2. What do you produce/grow/make?
Plants, plants and more plants. Indoor shade, outdoor landscaping, screening, formal, hedging, any type of plant for many functions.
3. What do you want the world to know about your product?
We have locally grown, top-quality indoor and landscaping plants at affordable prices. We grow the plants.
4. What is your life philosophy?
Love what you do, then it goes without saying you do it with all your heart.
5. How long have you held a stall at the Newcastle City Farmers Market?
Bill started Wyee Nursery in 1972 and has grown and sold plants throughout the Newcastle area since then.
6. What are the challenges associated with what you make/grow/produce?
Our biggest challenges are the weather and finding a balance between marketing our product and growing.
7. What do you love most about what you do?
Our nursery is located in one of the greenest valleys on the Mid North Coast. The peace and serenity of this place is the perfect environment to raise plants. We like to think that all the plants that pass through our hands take with them this blessing from our valley.
8. What is the next step for your enterprise?
We love to grow and we like even more to see the joy in people who have found something unique or special. We can't imagine not growing plants. This passion is life long!
9. Who inspires you in the work you do?
Our customers inspire us with their appreciation for what we do. We don't feel that we are just selling plants, but rather we feel we are connecting with people.
10. What do you love about Newcastle City Farmers Market?
We love the diversity. It is unique to Newcastle. We love the spirit that unites us with the other stall holders like a family.
11. What led you to growing plants?
Intuitively, we both love to nurture, and raising plants was a natural progression. Much of Bill’s knowledge and ability comes from the desperate days of his youth in the remote mountains of Greece after the war when food was very scarce, and many days you did not eat at all. To grow was to live, to grow is still to live!
12. What is the best thing about Newcastle and its people?
We have made some excellent friends through the NCF markets. They are individuals who inspire, create and challenge themselves in business to produce unique products. The market is the heart of Newcastle because the products sold here come from our own land.
