Council’s Manager Waste, Environment and Rangers, Keith Stevenson, said microchipping is one of the most important things you can do for your pet.
“State law requires that all dogs and cats are to be micro-chipped at 12 weeks of age, so take advantage of this opportunity to have your pet micro-chipped for free and save yourself some money,” Mr Stevenson said.
“Having your dog or cat micro-chipped ensures council rangers can easily identify and return stray or lost animals to their rightful owners.
“It’s also important for owners to notify council if their address or contact details change so records can be updated.”
Free micro-chipping is only available to Lake Macquarie residents and ID is required on the day. Please ensure that cats are in a carry cage and dogs are on a leash. Customers with large litters make contact prior to the day on 4921 0333.
