Lake Macquarie Council’s manager of community planning, John Ferguson, said the replacement works were identified in the Glendale Contributions Plan.
“Playgrounds provide Lake Macquarie families with an area where they can enjoy the outdoors and socialise with others, which is a valuable part of any community,” Mr Ferguson said.
The playground works, which are expected to be completed by the end of June 2017, will involve the installation of a new concrete path, drinking fountain, seating and a play area for ages 4 to 12 years, which features swings, a slide and climbable areas.
While construction is underway the use of facilities at Centennial Park, Gregory Park and Taylor Park, are encouraged instead.
