Merewether coach Cass Koppen was pleased to return from a hit and run mission to Port Macquarie with a 2-1 win over Mid North Coast in the only Herald Women’s Premier League match to go ahead on Sunday.
“They continue to be our bogey team,” Koppen said after United held off sustained pressure from Mid North Coast in the latter stages.
The visitors led 2-0 at the break after captain Lori Depczynski and Sarah Halvorsen both scored.
The hosts got a goal back in the second period when United were reduced to 10 players for 10 minutes as centre-back Jaimee Ellis was sidelined briefly with an ankle complaint.
The games at The Gardens and Thornton Park were both postponed.
