Blackert Gymnastics Academy will have a strong presence in the NSW team heading to the Australian championships in Melbourne this month.
Eight gymnasts have been named to represent their state after some outstanding form at the NSW titles in April
Academy coach Karen Blackert said they will make up a quarter of the state team.
“It's a record by far, having this amount of girls in the state team,” Blackert said. “We usually have three or four.”
Blackert said the high number in the state team was a result of gymnast development since the Academy was opened 10 years ago.
Aphra O'Brien-Slade secured her place in the state team when she was the NSW Level 10 all-around junior champion.
“Aphra was one of the first girls in our program and has gone through to the top level,” Blackert said.
Also in the team are Jasmine Fischbeck, Jorgie Hills, Edan Shorten, Isabelle Imig, Tahlie Park, Emma Wrightson and Ebony Demir.
