Libby Widdup, the wife of the Cooks Hill Galleries director, passed away in March after a long battle with cancer.
The gallery doors have been closed since but were open again on Monday with a fresh new look.
Mr Widdup has used “courageous colours” throughout, in line with the exhibition space’s renewal as well as his own personal renewal.
Gallery Rooms 1 and 2 have had a colour makeover with the traditional off white walls replaced with a daring grey backdrop.
Gallery V has been reopened after years of being used as a storeroom and has been painted to “represent change”.
“I wanted to make a statement of positivity, for the gallery and myself,” Mr Widdup said.
The gallery’s newest exhibition, Ken Strong’s Lifting the darkness - the emergence of light, opens May 26 between 6pm and 8pm.
