The trio met in 2002 at the University of Newcastle while studying fine art. They shared a corner space in the art school studios and connected through their love of painting.
The gallery has described their styles as, “always experimental, they never limited themselves to just a canvas, anything could be painted on, and in that way they could tell their stories.”
This show is a tribute to their dedication to the paint medium through a “bold and colourful foray of imagery.”
Brett, Gillard and Evans have since held regular solo and group shows in Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne and Port Macquarie.
They trio were also behind the Field Contemporary Art Space.
They have completed private and public commissions for collectors in Newcastle.
The exhibition runs from June 2 to 11 at Art Systems Wickham, 40 Annie Street.
