The Wallsend 29-year-old has also been diagnosed as having the gene which causes the fatal genetic disorder.
On May 29, Brisan Motorcycles and Kawasaki Motors Australia announced they would be providing a metallic green Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero to Hunter Bikers Events, who will raffle off the $25,000 bike over the next six months to raise funds and awareness for Huntington’s NSW.
Huntington’s disease (HD) causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities and has no cure and every child of a parent with HD has a chance of carrying the faulty gene.
“There’s a 50-50 chance of inheriting it in a family,” Ms Faulkner said. “We have a big family so it’s just been devastating.”
The raffle will be drawn at the Toy Run at Wickham Park on December 3. Tickets are available at www.rafflelink.com.au/hbe4hd17#.WStrGF9MgVQ.mailto.
