The Lake Macquarie-based Academy had eight athletes in the NSW team which competed at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne.
They made up one-quarter of the state team for Blackert’s strongest ever representation for NSW.
Six of those eight produced individual medal-winning performances.
“To have so many of them do so well was really exciting,” Ms Blackert said.
“To have six of them get individual placings, we’ve never done that well before.”
Leading the charge was 14-year-old Ebony Demir, who was competing for NSW for the first time.
She is the new Australian Level 7 beam and floor champion and finished third overall then was also part of the NSW team which were the overall national champions.
“Ebony had two really consistent days of competition,” Blackert said.
“She had eight routines, four each day, and she hit all of them.”
Jorgie Hills, 15, was competing at nationals for the third straight year and overcame a fall on the second day of her competition to collect a gold medal for beam in Level 9.
She produced a bronze-medal winning effort overall and collected a silver medal for the team overall.
“I was stoked with that,” Jorgie said.
“I knew I was up there on the first day after I had a good beam result and I started off the second day alright on vault but fell on bars.”
She recovered with another strong effort for beam.
Fourteen-year-old Izzy Imig competed in Level 9 and collected the national crown for vault and helped NSW to silver in the overall teams event.
Emma Wrightson, competing in Level 7, secured bronze on bars and a gold in overall team.
In Level 9, Tahlie Park produced a bronze medal performance on floor and Edan Shorten secured bronze on bars.
Aphra O'Brien-Slade, in Level 10, collected bronze in team overall.
The NSW Country Championships will be staged at Hunter Sports Centre, Glendale from July 6 to 10.
