Name: Astrid Gearin
Heroes: Miss Piggy, my first feminist and Cyndi Lauper for everything
Pinups: I’m pretty fluid with my style, interests and tastes in most things but for today if I had to pick someone (who is not my beloved) that makes me swoon it would be Frida Kahlo or Dan Sultan
Drink: Well it’s winter so it’s red wine and the flavour of the month is Shiraz
Food: Asian please
Movies: I love them, don’t spend much time these days as I'm more into series. (short intense bites I find are good for my attention span) first thing that came to my mind though was the Goonies!
Reading: Bedtime reading is Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ by Giulia Enders, and Fight Like a Girl by Clementine Ford.
Music: I mostly listen to the Classics; that being ... Pj Harvey, Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, The Cure, Blondie, Tribe Called Quest, Talking Heads, Nina Simone, Neil Young, The Breeders, De La Soul so many to write...so little space.....- but when I'm alone, cooking and drinking wine its usually 80s Madonna.
Dance: Is so, so good
Loves: Polly, my dog and the arts
Hates: A very strong word my Mumma used to say.
Underwear: Black Cotton
Perfume: Sonia Rykiel from 1997 but they don’t make it any more, so now it’s Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Interests life: Food, music, communities and people and how we all relate to each other
Theory on life: I'm just making it up on the spot but maybe … to be purposeful in the world and reflect
Wildest desire: Being an international food critic, being paid to travel all around the world visiting places rich in food, art and culture... imagine!
Biggest drag: Hangovers, the housing market and climate change. Oh and having my period is a real downer.
