The bold strategy for Lake Macquarie is outlined in the Arts, Heritage and Cultural Plan 2017-2027. The plan details more than 80 actions in nine focus areas that will enhance creative opportunities, build jobs in the creative industries and promote Lake Macquarie as a contemporary, innovative and creative city.
It also emphasises the importance of celebrating the city’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and championing local heritage and history.
Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Cr Kay Fraser, said the plan was designed to “enliven places and spaces all around the city and connect us with our past, present and future”.
Lake Macquarie Council endorsed the draft plan for public exhibition and council is seeking feedback until August 21.
The plan is available online at haveyoursaylakemac.com.au/cultural-plan.
