And it nearly happened. Well, not really. Organisers of the inaugural Iced Novo at the Croatian Wickham Sports Club did invite the former Silverchair frontman to perform at their charity festival on August 5, but you’re more chance of seeing a Tasmanian tiger than Johns performing live at the minute.
However, it hasn’t stopped Iced Novo boasting a stellar line-up of Newcastle music talent across its Daniel Johns (punk), Andrew Johns (rock) and Olivia Newton-John (acoustic) stages.
On show will be Jamie Hay, Zachari Watts King of Singing, Fux and the Sound, Smokey Ex Hailin' and the Flaming Balls of Fury, Obat Batuk, Plague, Su Morely, The Grounds, Nick Raschke and Ian Papworth, Alana Mundi, Tad Podee, Trancemission and DJ Tone.
There will be food and market stalls as well.
Entry is a gold-coin donation and all funds raised go towards the fight to save the Awabakal women's butterfly cave at West Wallsend.
