Beach watch

Good chance of some clean waves as wind turns offshore before a afternoon southerly change. Peaky breaks and bigger mid morning high which may fill the outside banks.

Swells N/E to East at around 1m.Wind North to West tending South late.

First up try Newcastle Beach, South Bar and Cliff. Cowrie and Bar Reef on high. Dudley, Redhead and Moonie to the south. Samurai and Birubi up at Port Stephens.

Waters tuned slightly murky with a cooler current. Try to stick to the patrolled beaches if in for swim. Water temp 17C.

Winds: Northerly 20 to 30 knots, becoming westerly 10 to 15 knots in the morning the shifting southerly southerly 20 to 30 knots in the afternoon. Seas: 2 to 3 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the afternoon. Swell: North-easterly 1 to 2 metres. Weather: Cloudy. 90 per cent chance of rain.
