Newcastle Beachwatch with Dave Anderson: Wednesday October 18, 2017

Beachwatch

Another day of fresh sea breezes and choppy surf. Not much protection locally and southern corners are sanding up. Best to check the northern ends early on the incoming tide. Swell has swung around to the east at 1.5m. Winds moderate wast to N/E.

Wind will be up for the dawn patrollers with Newcastle, South Bar and Merewether the better options. To the north, Birubi and Samurai. Redhead, Frenchmans and Ghosties to the south. Shallow afternoon low tide and best for kite surfers.

Sweeps running to the south along the gutters in close. Check positions to the flags if in for a swim. Water temperature is 18C.
