Titled Soundawareness, its 10 tracks were composed and arranged by Mathiske, but also includes collaborations with James Morrison, John Paul Young, John Harding, Chris Duncan, Andy Firth and Sally Walker.
“My vision was to produce a cohesive record of diverse, accomplished artists with the music being sophisticated and accessible, utilising my own guitar based global flavours,” Mathiske said.
“As the composer, arranger and guitarist, I loved hearing and playing with James Morrison as he plays Latin and Arabic trumpet lines on Dancing Sands. Having that sit effortlessly alongside pop icon John Paul Young singing with my guitar ensemble.
“Having all of these world acclaimed artists bring my music to life has been such a joy and now that musical joy will be able to be shared with everyone.”
Behind the new recording was a desire to expand his solo guitar repertoire and musical palette.
Novocastrians will be the first to hear Soundawareness in concert at Lizottes on October 28.
