NEWCASTLE

Blackbutt Reserve will hold a daily reptile show during the school holidays. It starts at 11am and costs $3. Tickets available at the kiosk. More information: newcastle.nsw.gov.au/Blackbutt-Reserve/Home

Newcastle Art Gallery will roll out a school holiday program inspired by current exhibitions the Kilgour Prize 2017 and Mazie Karen Turner. Workshops are $10 and suitable for children aged 5-12. More information: nag.org.au/Whats-On/Event-Calendar

Newcastle Museum is inviting youngsters to have a splash around the science of water at the Express Science Show –  it looks at things wet and wild and it’s free. There is also the Amusement Park Mayhem with Lego where kids will learn about axles, engineering and touch on Newton's laws as they explore the Ferris wheel. $15 per child.  Find out more: newcastlemuseum.com.au

Newcastle Libraries have activities and workshops for all ages, as well as older kids, aged 12-18. There will also be school holiday story time, get up close with reptiles, make your own Bonsai plant or create a garden mobile, or join in for a family bush dance. Lake Macquarie

Hop in for a special story time featuring the classic tale The Frog Prince puppet show. It’s on at Charlestown Library on September 29, between 10.30am and 11am. It’s free and suitable for children aged 3-6 years. 

Bring a rug and join in the outdoor fun, with stories in the park with The Rover. Everyone will make their own straw rocket to take home. It’s on October 3, between 10-10.45am at Reserve in the Circlet, opposite Rathmines shopping centre.

Would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? Join members of Toronto Craft Group, who will teach you some basic stitches to get you started. It’s open to children aged 10 years and older. It’s on at Toronto Library, October 6, 10am-12pm. Bookings essential: 4921 0641
