Ms Hornery moved the notice of motion on Tuesday. It called on the state government to deliver flood mitigation works in Wallsend, in partnership with the Newcastle City Council.
Plans have already been underway as part of the project. However a grant application to replace the Tyrrell Street bridge was overlooked by the state government.
Ms Hornery has expressed concern at the lack of support for Wallsend and Newcastle in safeguarding against large-scale flooding. It is expected to be debated in the first sitting of Parliament in 2018.
