Housing bucks trend

THE number of new home approvals across the Hunter has risen, according to the latest ABS figures.

Over the 12 months to August, 2017, there have been 4059 approvals for new dwellings across the Hunter, compared to 3999 for the previous year,  Craig Jennion, Housing Industry Association Hunter executive director, said.

Big reductions in other areas led to a concern the market had peaked nationally. However, this was “not the case locally”.
