The first will be local masters of three chord punk The Mansons, who will perform their much anticipated second reunion show.
The four-piece made a reentry into the live music scene last year when they performed a gig which drew punks, young and old (but mostly old), out from the woodwork to enjoy all the well loved hits, such as I Died Four Times (But I Don’t Want to Talk About it).
They will perform with EME on November 11, kicks off at 8pm.
Just one week later the equally legendary Cash for Chaos will reform with three original members – Donny Annecchini, Phil Bigelow and Gerant Gerant – to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sex Pistols’ Never Mind the Bollocks – it was released on October 29, 1977.
Brothers Adam and Paul Diver of ViAgro, will join the band for the show. The supports are Pawn Logic and Trashed. It’s on November 18 and kicks off at 8pm.
Youth Orchestra
ON an entirely different note, the Newcastle Youth Orchestra and Newcastle Wind Orchestra will join forces to present their Gala Concert on November 17.
The concert features soprano Kathryn Dries in Mahler’s sublime Songs of a Wayfarer along with Schubert’s Symphony No 8 (Unfinished) performed by Newcastle Youth Orchestra.
Following a successful launch concert in August, the Newcastle Wind Orchestra will present new works by American composer Ryan Nowlin – As We Forgive and O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen.
This work by Lauridsen, initially composed for choir, is heard in a fabulous transcription for symphonic wind band showing all the colours of the ensemble in this magnificent setting.
Newcastle Youth Orchestra’s new Artistic Director and Conductor Dr. Ian Cook will lead the orchestras through this entertaining program.
It’s on November 17, at The Harold Lobb Concert Hall, Newcastle Conservatorium.
Glip Gig
THE Lairs will bring their unique, food flavoured tunes to the Gallipoli this month. The awesome foursome will perform on November 16, at 8pm, entry $10. Don’t miss it.
