It is a private art prize commissioned by Bryan Havenhand in memory of the lost fig trees of Laman Street.
The competition is open to artists living in the Hunter region and submitted works must have been completed in the past 12 months.
There are four prizes: two best-of-show prizes of $2,500 each, one best emerging Artist prize of $1,000 and a people’s choice prize worth $1,000.
Expressions of interest for the prize close on November 27.
All accepted works are automatically entered into the people’s choice prize.
The first three prizes will be announced at the opening of the exhibition at Acrux Gallery on January 25, 2018. It runs until February 11, 2018.
The people’s choice will be announced on February 11, 2018.
