THE seasonal outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology is showing it is likely the median maximum temperature, 26.4 degrees, will be exceeded in the Newcastle area for the months ahead.

The median maximum is the averaged temperature over the months December to February. Eastern tropical Pacific waters have cooled indicating a La Nina may also be on the cards.
