Formerly known as the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir, Echology have recently returned from the UK where they performed under their new name for the first time.
They have toured internationally from Korea, to Paris, to New York and won competitions including Choir of the Year in 2006 and Battle of the Choirs in 2008.
The group will take their new look with them to the Vatican's St Peter's Basilica in November and to the United Nations headquarters in Geneva next year.
Echology director Philip Matthias said it retired its 19th century title of 'choir' for a fresh look that better encompassed what they do - pop, rock and Renaissance numbers with the choreography to match.
An internationally acclaimed US choir, The Morgan State University Choir, has teamed up with Echology to do a joint performance during its trip to Australia.
The two will perform together at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newcastle West this Friday June 14. To buy tickets go to stickytickets.com.au/11246.
