Hunter surf life saving crews showcase skill at Street's surf boat series at Stockton

WHILE many of us relaxed over the new year, the region's surf boat crews were hard at work preparing for the season ahead.

The results of this were on show at round four of the Street's surf boat series at Stockton Beach, and many of the Hunter's crews were looking sharp in the lead-up to the state and national titles.

Nobbys continued its impressive series in the open men's by taking the win ahead of MacMasters Beach and Cooks Hill in third.

Caves Beach won the open women's final, with Nobbys in second and MacMasters rounding out the podium.

The Caves Beach club soon celebrated another victory in the men's under-23s, edging out Newcastle and Terrigal.

In the women's under-23s, Ocean Beach finished first, taking the win over Terrigal and Stockton.

Ocean Beach was able to count another victory to the tally as the under-19 crew took line honours, with Avoca not too far behind in second and Swansea-Belmont taking third.

Dixon Park took the win in the masters men's and Avoca won the masters women's.

The series will move to Blacksmiths Beach on this Sunday, January 19, for the penultimate round of the series.
