Superb summer fishing run continues on Lake Macquarie

LAKE Macquarie continues to have a stellar summer of fishing with the arrival of arrow squid in good numbers.

Areas from the drop-over down to Murrays Beach have been productive.

Whiting are still a fixture on the sand flats, using live worms is the best way to go or, for the more sporting anglers, surface poppers are also great fun.

There are still some nice flathead coming out of the lake along with some great bream along the weedy edges.

Blacksmiths break wall has been producing some healthy luderick during the past week.

Stockton and Belmont beaches are fishing well for whiting and flathead, there have been some tailor showing up on the northern end of Stockton Beach.

From February 3 until March 23 the Lavis Lane entry onto Stockton Beach will be closed temporary for major road works.

The beach will remain open, however, the only entry point will be at the Anna Bay end.
