Wells fell just 0.29 points short of qualifying for the finals last Saturday.
The 24-year-old scored 78.12, which left her outside the 78.41 required to break the top six, who qualified.
Wells had attempted a double somersault followed by a double twist on her second jump but fell backwards on the landing.
She placed 18th overall.
