Speers Point Swim Centre celebrated its 50th birthday in style earlier this month.
About 1500 people made a splash for the occasion, with a family-friendly day at the pool hosted by Lake Macquarie council.
The day was held to commemorate the pool's opening on December 14, 1963.
The pool was built in memory of the nation's war veterans.
Since then, it has become home to the Boolaroo Speers Point Swimming Club and is used by local schools and the public throughout summer.
Activities on the day of the golden celebration included an aquatic challenger, children's novelty races and synchronised swimming by the Central Coast Crystals.
There were also live performances from local musicians.
Lake Macquarie mayor Jodie Harrison attended the event and unveiled a commemorative plaque.
She said big things were in the works for Speers Point Swim Centre's next 50 years.
During winter when the pool is closed, the council will upgrade the pool's toddler area, turning it into a water playground with the addition of water buckets, jets and shooters.
