The Star learnt of this development from a Belmont resident this afternoon.
The rumor was then confirmed by Swansea state MP Garry Edward's office.
A spokesman for Swansea state MP Garry Edward said a meeting was held at the office on Monday, presided by Belmont RSL Sub-Branch president Joe Hayes, Lake Macquarie Local Area of Command Superintendent Brett Greentree, Lake Macquarie duty officer Inspector Dan Sykes, Mr Edwards and several of his staff.
Mr Hayes' new plan to hold the march on the highway came after comments he made last week to The Star that the decision to change its location was "final".
The march will now start in the mall, opposite the post office on the Pacific Highway, Belmont, and end with a ceremony at the new memorial at Cullen Park, opposite the Gunyah Hotel.
Lake Macquarie Local Area of Command Superintendent Brett Greentree will take the new route to Lake Macquarie council this week for traffic control approval.
When The Star contacted Mr Hayes, he refused to comment until a media release had been sent from Mr Edwards' office.
