Race for Newcastle state MP seat wide open as Jaimie Abbott and John Church ruled out

JAIMIE Abbott, the former federal Liberal candidate for Newcastle in the 2013 election, has ruled out standing for the seat of Newcastle in the state election next year. Sitting Newcastle state MP Tim Owen said he would not recontest the seat. Newcastle local government councillors Brad Luke and Sharon Waterhouse are possibilities to run for the seat for the Liberal party. Cr Lisa Tierney said she had no intention of running.
