Alcohol-free zones set to be re-established in Lake Macquarie

Updated June 10 2014 - 9:15am, first published June 9 2014 - 2:44pm

LAKE Macquarie council is looking to re-establish 11 alcohol-free zones. This would make it an offence to drink alcohol on any public road, footpath, public car park or reserve in Belmont, Redhead, West Wallsend, Windale, Charlestown, Toronto, Bolton Point, Croudace Bay, Swansea Heads, Caves Beach and Sunshine. The zones are aimed at helping police to prevent alcohol-related violence, anti-social behaviour and crime. They will be in place for three years from September.
