THE state government has awarded the contract for the $11.1 million expansion of Newcastle Airport to Hansen Yuncken. The expansion will mean increased capacity for additional domestic services, a more exciting retail offering, and infrastructure to handle international flights into south-east Asia. The first stage begins in July, with completion due in 18 months.
