Warners Bay Bulldogs celebrate first win of AFL season

TERRIGAL Avoca continued their dominance, Warners Bay won their first game, and Killarney Vale recorded a win in round 10 of the Wilson Security Black Diamond Cup AFL competition.

At No 1 Sportsground, Terrigal Avoca jumped two games clear on top of the ladder after dominating Newcastle City by 62 points, 18.11 (119) to 8.9 (57).

Warners Bay finally broke the drought with an exciting come-from-behind six-point win over Nelson Bay at Feighan Oval, 16.14 (110) to 14.20 (104).

It was the Bulldogs first win of the season, after a couple of close early season losses.

At Rose Point Park, Killarney Vale had little trouble disposing of Singleton, 13.19 (97) to 8.2 (50).

Cardiff had the bye.

In First Division, Newcastle City flexed their muscles with a 26-point win over leaders Wyong Lakes and Maitland showed they were a force to be reckoned with after a 30-point win over Terrigal Avoca.

Courtesy of 13 goals from Troy Gordon, Warners Bay were too strong for a depleted Nelson Bay.

In the night game, Killarney Vale held off Lake Macquarie.

The top five second division sides all won.
